SENIOR CLUB C'SHIP FINAL: Austin Stacks 2-12 Dr Crokes 1-14. In an analysis of this game it would be the easy way out to say we lost this game because our opponents had a numerical advantage of one for 45 minutes of the match. It however could be pointed out that many games at Club and County level have been won by the team who suffered the same faith as we did. Our lads did however give their all and fell short in the end by one point. We actually scored 6 points without reply in a 10 minute spell in the second quarter and four of these were got when we were a man down. This was an outstanding game and Congratulations to Austin Stacks on their great win. They seemed to have the greater power in the last 10 minutes and outscored us 5 points to 2 points in this period. We opened the scoring into the wind in the second minute but Stacks equalised a minute later. A point for us a few minutes later was followed by a goal by our opponents. We had our most productive period in the game from the 15th to the 25th minute, scoring 6 points without reply. Stacks had a good finish to the half, scoring 3 unanswered points. This gave us a half time lead of 0-08 to 1-04. The teams exchanged scores on 5 occasions I  the third quarter. Both scored 1-04 to leave us still a point in front. Our opponents had 3 points without reply in the next ten minutes as we went into the last five minutes of normal time. The teams exchanged points just before the end of normal time to still leave us 2 points behind as we entered the last 5 minutes of extra time. We reduced the deficit to a point in the 63rd minute. Maybe our opponents had the fresher legs in the last quarter but even in defeat I feel we learned a lot from this typical Championship in 3 weeks time. Dr Crokes Best Player - Gavin White. Team and Scorers: Shane Murphy 0-2 (0-1 45, 0-1 free), David O'Leary, Mike Moloney, Fionn Fitzgerald, Gavin White 0-1, Alan O'Sullivan, Mike Milner, Ambrose O'Donovan 0-1, Johnny Buckley Captain 0-2, Daithi Casey 0-2, Gavin O'Shea 1-0, Brian Looney, Colm Cooper 0-2 (0-1 free), Kieran O'Leary 0-3, Tony Brosnan.

FOOTBALL - U12: Home vs Legion on Friday 16th September.

LADIES FOOTBALL - U14: Both ourselves and opponents Glenflesk served up a very entertaining game for the supporters who braved the miserable conditions at Lewis Rd on Sunday evening 11th Sept. After a lacklustre showing by our girls in the first half , despite playing with the elements, to a woman they drove into their opponents and the conditions in the second period. The concession of two first half goals ultimately proved our undoing but it took 3 points in the last five minutes by the visitors to provide the winning margin. All 19 squad members showed great heart and no little skill in the driving rain. Squad; Alexandra Buckholz, Leanne Kerins, Jade Potts, Caoilinn O Donoghue, Miriam Green, Holly Power, Megan Graham,Treasa OSullivan, Julie Delaney, Sarah McMahon, Niamh Stack, Kym Murphy, Ava Sheehan, Lyselle O'Shea, Ellen Moloney, Emma Kelly, Pia Hickey, Shauna White, Jessica Leahy, Sarra Neher.

SENIOR CO. FOOTBALL LEAGUE - RD. 11: Dr Crokes 1-20, Milltown Castlemaine 0-09. We started off this game on the front foot and sent over six points without reply in the first 15 minutes. The locals came more into the game in the second quarter but despite plenty of possession managed to score just one point in this period. In this same fifteen minutes we added on six points to our first quarter tally. This gave us an interval lead of 0-12 to 0-02. Milltown Castlemaine were much more accurate in their shooting in the second half. Our tally in this half was just a score more than our opponents in this half, 1-8 to 0-08. Our goal was scored by Kieran O' Leary in the 56th minute. While our management would be happy with our all round performance, they know they still have things to work on before the championship.Dr Crokes Best Player - Kieran O' Leary. Team and Scorers: Shane Murphy, David O' Leary, Mike Moloney, Fionn Fitzgerald, Gavin White 0-1, Alan O' Sullivan 0-1, Mike Miller, Ambrose O' Donovan 0-1, P.J Lawlor, Daithi Casey 0-3 (frees), Gavin O' Shea, Brian Looney 0-2, Kieran O' Leary 1-4 (0-1 free), Johnny Buckley 0-2, Tony Brosnan 0-4. FOOTBALL - U12: Dr Crokes U12 Black and Amber team commenced their East Kerry League campaign on Sunday evening. The Black team played their best football all year were just edged out 3-15 to 1-16 in the end in a high quality end-to-end game. The Amber team were just edged out in a keenly fought game. All the boys in each group got game time and most importantly continued to improve.

LADIES FOOTBALL - U14: The girls returned to competitive action this week after a short summer recess. Two away games in the East Kerry League  produced contrasting performances, but similar results. Wednesday 31/8/16 saw us visit Kilcummin where a below par performance after  the summer layoff did not affect the result, but ensured the outcome was in doubt until the final whistle. On Sunday 4/9/16 we hit the road again, this time to Kenmare, where a much better all round performance was required to edge a competitive fixture, in wet conditions, against Inbhear Sceine Gaels. We have one more round robin fixture at home against Glenflesk this coming weekend to determine where we finish in the league.

JUVENILE ACADEMY: The Saturday Morning Academy for boys and girls aged 4-10 years has returned. Hurling 10-10:40 and Football 10:40-12 noon. Come along and enjoy learning to play Gaelic Games in a fun environment.
