O'DONOGHUE CUP (EK C'SHIP) QUARTER FINAL: Dr. Crokes 0-15, Listry 0-06. Despite the nine points victory by us, this was not a one sided game. Listry were very competitive throughout and made us work hard to gain possession and record scores. We did however score from long range better than them, and had six players on the score sheet. We got off to a good start and had four unanswered points in the first seven minutes. Listry had a point in the 9th minute but the last twenty minutes belonged to us as we sent over six points without reply from six different scorers, to go in at half time 0-10 to 0-01. In the first few minutes of the second half our opponents had two points to our one.  For the next five minutes we again got a grip on the game, scoring three points and went into an eleven point lead.  With twenty minutes to go, Listry had their most productive time in the game. In the next fifteen minutes they sent over three points without reply.  The final score of the game fell to our Tony Brosnan, a point in the last minute. Our Mentors would have been happy with our display as we approach next weekend’s Munster Club Championship game, away to the Clare winners. Team and Scorers:  Shane Murphy 0-01 (45); David O’Leary; Mike Moloney; Luke Quinn; Fionn Fitzgerald; Eoin Brosnan; P.J.Lawlor; Ambrose O’Donovan; Mike Milner; Brian O’Shea  0-03;  Daithi Casey 0-05 (0 2 frees); Jordan Kiely 0-01;  Tony Brosnan 0-02; Kieran O’Leary 0-03; Jamie Doolan.
Subs: Jason Lyne; Andrew Kennelly; Mark Egan.

SENIOR LADIES CO. LEAGUE DIV. 3 FINAL 2016: Our senior ladies claimed the Division 3 County League with an emphatic display of clinical football and wonderful never say die attitude. The girls came from 5 points down in the first half to win the game with plenty to spare. This is a young team and the future looks to be bright for ladies football in the club. the game played in Listry against Kilcummin who had beaten the girls in an early round but they learned and made sure it was not going to happen again. Dr. Crokes pressed up and turned over ball regularly and the unselfish running by all the team made it impossible for kilcummin to get near them. Some wonderful scores from Kate Stack, Amanda Brosnan, Edel Cronin and the wonderful passing by Rheanne O'Shea. Liz Moloney and Megan Buckley was a joy to watch. The half backs found Christine Cooper running freely and the imposing Kayleigh Cronin were a huge barrier to Kilcummin getting anywhere near the Crokes goal. We led the game The half time score was 1-06 to 0-10 in favour of Dr. Crokes. The second half was more productive and the girls drove their advantage. Edel Cronin scored 1-2 and Megan Buckley also goaled to kill the game as a contest. points from Kate Stack and a final goal from Marian O'Callaghan meant the contest was well and truly over. Some wonderful defending by Siobhan Burns in particular who was tested in lots of ways by Kilcummin but always had the answers for them, and ably assisted by Roisin Doherty, Edel Carroll, superb keeper at the tender age of 14 was astonishing all season and captain Karina O'Leary kept Kilcummin to 5 points in the second half with 3 of those frees. Megan Kiely was introduced early in the game and was a terrific outlet for the defence. Manager and coach Brendan O'Connor hailed the girls for their hard work all year and indeed the girls rewarded his unselfish efforts with a truly worthy performance, The final score Dr. Crokes 3-14 Kilcummin 1-11 selectors Mark Cooper, Catherine Keogh and Jason Stack are to be commended for their work as well. On a sad note, it was to be the final performance by a ladies stalworth, Edel Carroll, who is heading to Australia for a while. We wish her all the very best, she will be hugly missed and will strengthen a team in Aussie of that there is no doubt.
Team and Panel: Dasha Puzanova, Karina O'Leary, Kayleigh Cronin, Roisin Doherty, Elizabeth Moloney, Edel O'Carroll, Christine Cooper, Siobhan Burns, Amanda Brosnan, Rheanne O'Shea, Megan Buckley, Edel Cronin, Kate Stack, Megan Kiely, Marion O'Callaghan, Elaine Galvin, Edel Hartnett, Rebacca Bruton, Jessica Galvin, Chelsea Coffey, Sedhona O'Donoghue, Fiona Galvin, Aine O'Connor, Keri Maloney, Anne Potts, Alexandra Buchholz.

EAST KERRY U16 FOOTBALL FINAL: After 160 minutes of football, two drawn games and extra time, the Dr Crokes’ boys dug deep and with great resolve and no little skill, drove out a fantastic victory over Fossa by the narrowest of margins 2-15 to 2-14 to claim the U16 East Kerry Championship. What a game, what a win and no more than this team deserved. With the aid of a good breeze, Crokes entered an early lead, primarily through the boot of Seán Magann. Roan Delaney created trouble up front and was double-marked. Meanwhile, David O’Mahony kept our onion bag safe and our full-back line of Mark Cooper, Caolan Ryan and Ger Cronin kept the opposition’s firing power at bay. The major score in the first half followed a good piece of flowing play from the Crokes’ side that ended in a shot, which was parried, only for Josh Fleming to pounce and rattle the net. Playing against a stiff wind in the second half, our first half lead was lost. Although Captain Fionnbharr Hickey, Seán O’Neill and Gary O’Connor mastered at midfield and nullified the opposition danger from that source. Harry Potts and Lorcan O’Hare Wyatt made a huge impact on the game with man of the match Fionn O’Doherty sweeping up everything that came his way. At full-time the sides were still level and extra time was called. Lee Downing and Eoin Moynihan kept the pressure on and a fantastic goal was manufactured, brilliantly finished off by Michael Lenihan. A late easy penalty against us left the last few minutes with a lot of defending to do. But Crokes defended solidly with confidence and finished the game off with a well-deserved win to become East Kerry Champions. Team: David O’Mahony, Ger Cronin, Eamonn Long, Mark Cooper, Caolan Ryan, Gary O’Connor, Seán O’Neill, Fionn O’Hare Doherty, Eoin Moynihan, Fionnbharr Hickey (Capt.) CO. SENIOR FOOTBALL C'SHIP FINAL: Dr. Crokes 2-16 Kenmare District 1-12. This was a game of pure football by both teams. Our ability to take our scores more easily and our strong bench enabled us to win in the end by seven points. We had the first score of the game, a point from a free from Colm Cooper but two points by our opponents put them in front by the seventh minute. This was the only time in the game that they were ahead. By the end of the first quarter we had gone ahead, 0-05 to 0-03.The teams exchanged points on two occasions in the next ten minutes. The crucial score of this first half came in the 26th. minute, a well taken goal by Kieran O’Leary. Kenmare District had a point in the 35th. minute of the delayed first half to leave  us in front 1-07 to 0-06 at half time. This half was delayed because of an unfortunate injury to Kenmare’s Patrick Clifford. We wish him a speedy recovery from his injury. The teams exchanged points in the first five minutes of the second half but we had a goal from our captain Johnny Buckley in the 36th minute to give us a seven point lead. The big lead lasted only a minute as our opponents raced through for a good goal to bring our lead back to four points.  We got well on top after this setback and four points without reply gave us an eight point lead as we entered the last quarter. Our opponents outscored us four points to three in the final quarter and were also denied a goal when their effort hit the post in the 46th minute. This gave us victory by  2-16 to 1-12 but the young Kenmare District team can look forward to the future with optimism. This was a great team display by all our players as well as our strong  bench  contributing to this great win. I don’t think anyone at the game would disagree with Colm Cooper’s selection as man of the match. We also salute our manager Pat O’Shea and his selectors Harry O’Neill, Eddie O’Sullivan, Niall O’Callaghan and Mike Buckley. We must also thank our two men doing the logistics – Matthew Courtney and Seamus O’Doherty and our medical man, Brian O’Callaghan. Team and Scorers: Shane Murphy 0-01 (free), Eoin Brosnan, Mike Moloney, John Payne, David O’Leary, Fionn Fitzgerald, Gavin White, Alan O’Sullivan, Ambrose O’Donovan  0-01, Johnny Buckley 1-0, Gavin O’Shea, Brian Looney 0-04, Colm Cooper 0-07 (0-03 frees), Daithi Casey, Kieran O’Leary 1-01. Subs:  Micheál Burns 0-01, Jordan Kiely 0-01, Mike Milner, Tony Brosnan, Luke Quinn, P.J. Lawlor.

LOTTO: Draw took place in J.C. O'Shea's on Sunday last. Numbers drawn 1, 2, 11, 14. No winner of the jackpot of €9,600. Match 3, 5 players each received €80. Next weeks jackpot is €9,900. Draw will take place in the Speakeasy on Monday 17th October 2016.

CO. SENIOR FOOTBALL C'SHIP SEMI-FINAL: Dr Crokes 1-15 Dingle 0-15. In a game in which there were never more than three points between the teams we got over the line by three points, in a very close and keenly contested encounter. The game was won for us and probably lost for Dingle in the 40th minute. We carried the ball from the halfway line in a passing movement which resulted in a goal by Eoin Brosnan. This put us three points ahead, a lead we held to the end.  Dingle got off to a good start and scored two points without reply. Two Daithi Casey points and one from Kieran O'Leary put us a point ahead. This lead did not last long as our opponents sent over two points in as many minutes for a point lead at the end of the first quarter. Two points by us and one by Dingle left the teams level by the 20th minute. The teams exchanged points again but two points by Brian Looney just before half time gave us a 0-9 to 0-7 interval lead. Our opponents started the second half in style and two points gave them equality after three minutes. The teams exchanged points in the next few minutes and then in the 40th minute came the vital score of the game, a goal by Eoin Brosnan after a good passing movement. Three unanswered points by our opponents brought them back level at the end of the third quarter. We had another good spell in the next ten minutes with points by substitutes Ambrose O'Donovan and Micheal Burns and another from Colm Cooper. A vital free by goalkeeper Shane Murphy gave us the insurance point in the 62nd minute. Dingle did not surrender but attacked relentlessly in the remaining minutes but their reward was just a point in the last minute. This gave us a victory by 1-15 to 0-15. While our mentors would have been happy with a tally of 1-15 they were however aspects of our game that were below par.
We are going to be playing tough opponents in Kenmare District in next Sundays Final. We will have to improve on our Semi Final performance to bring home Bishop Moynihan Trophy.

CO. SENIOR FOOTBALL C'SHIP QTR-FINAL: Dr Crokes 1-16 Kerins O Rahillys 0-14.
We were only once behind in this game and that was in the 3rd minute when Kerins O'Rahillys sent over the opening score, a point. By the 15th minute we were ahead by 1-06 to 0-02. Our opponents had the next two points but we outscored them by four points to two in the remaining minutes of the first half. This gave us a 1-10 to 0-6 interval lead. This half was delayed for forty minutes due to an unfortunate injury to Kerins O'Rahillys player Giles 'Grady.  We wish him a speedy recovery from his injury, which necessitated his removal to hospital. Three points by our opponents in the first five minutes of the second half reduced our lead to four points. We had to defend strongly during the second half. We still looked as if we would be winners once we wouldn't concede a goal. This we achieved and were also helped by a strong bench which yielded points from Eoin Brosnan and Jordan Kiely. This was a very workmanship performance throughout the field but one would have to mention the outstanding displays of Gavin White and Colm Cooper who contributed 1-05. We have now reached the Semi Final but both our players and mentors know that it will take even better performances to win the Bishop Moynihan Cup. Team and Scorers: Shane Murphy 0-02 (0-01 free, 0-01 45), John Payne, Mike Moloney, Fionn Fitzgerald, Gavin White, Alan O'Sullivan 0-01, David O'Leary, Johnny Buckley, Ambrose O'Donovan, Kieran O'Leary 0-01, Gavin O'Shea, Brian Looney, Tony Brosnan 0-02, Daithi Casey 0-03 (0-01 free), Colm Cooper 1-05 (0-02 frees).
Subs: Eoin Brosnan 0-01, Jordan Kiely 0-01, Micheal Burns, Lake Quinn, P.J Lawlor, Mike Milner.
