Weekly Notes March 19th 2018

East Kerry League - Round 3

Dr Crokes 2-18 Kilcummin 0-9 at Lewis Road

We remained unbeaten in the Senior League as a result of our good win over Kilcummin on Sunday last.

On a bitterly cold day our visitors started better and led 0-4 to 0-3 after ten minutes. By the end of the first quarter we had gone into a three point lead. We got well on top in the second quarter and went in at half time leading 1-9 to 0-5. The highlight of the half was a great goal in the 20th minute by Colm Cooper.

Kilcummin had a point at the start of the second half but four points without reply by us had us leading by ten points at the end of the third quarter. The visitors  came into the game in the last quarter but we were always able to answer the scores they were getting with scores of our own.

Our top scores of the day were Colm Cooper 2-4 (0-2 frees), Kieran O'Leary and Jack Griffin 0-3 each.

Team: Johnny O'Leary, John Payne, Mike Moloney, Brian Fitzgerald, David O'Leary, Jason Lyne, David Naughton, Paul Clarke, Kieran Ward, Jack Griffin, Gavin O'Shea, Brian Looney, Colm Cooper, Mark O'Shea, Kieran O'Leary.

Sub: Lorcan Mc Monagle

Join the Kerry County Clean-Up Team

We are inviting all our local GAA clubs to get involved in the Kerry County Clean-Up.  The participation of ours clubs will add greatly to the County Clean-up team.  We are asking that clubs arrange a litter clean-up on Saturday April 14th in the locality where their club grounds are located. Last year, 5,000 volunteers county wide gathered 6,500 bags of litter on a single day in their own localities which left the county of Kerry looking spick and span. This years County Clean-up will take place on Saturday, April 14th. The Annual County Clean-Up is run with the support of Kerry Co. Council and KWD Recycling.  To register your clubs participation in the County Clean-Up please register with KWD by logging on to http://www.countycleanup.com or by e-mailing Angela on countycleanup@kwd.ie.  Upon registration KWD Recycling will provide your club with bags and high visibility vest and they will also agree a date and location for pick-up of the collected litter.
