INTER. HURLING C'SHIP QTR. FINAL: The Dr. Crokes senior hurler's overcame Kilgarvan in Lewis Road on Monday evening last in the Intermediate Hurling Championship Quarter Final. This was a repeat of last year's quarter final where we were victorious by a solitary point. We got off to a blistering start when Anthony Keogh flicked a long range puck past the Kilgarvan keeper. Great fielding by Kevin Landers, Rory Waters and Shane Barrett in defence maintained pressure on Kilgarvan, points coming from Seanie Burchill, Mike McCarthy and Michael O'Keeffe. Before the half-time whistle, Seanie Burchill found himself at the edge of the square to receive a mis-fired clearance and made no error, finding the Kilgarvan net. Half-time score: Dr. Crokes 2-09 Kilgarvan 0-06. The second half tested us no end, with the wind to Kilgarvan's back, our defence were under immense pressure. Jack Lenihan made a huge contribution, dropping into the defence as the extra man and sweeping the breaking ball. Kilgarvan managed 2 goals but it was not enough and the whistle was blown on a thrilling encounter. Full-time score: Dr. Crokes 2-13, Kilgarvan 2-10.

EK MINOR LEAGUE - DIV. 1 FINAL: This turned out to be a thriller with some very fast passages of play from both sides. We opened scoring with a point from play by Cillian Regan. Johnny O’Leary pulled off a point blank save shortly after but Spa then opened their scoring with 2 from play. A long range kick from Shane Lyne dropped into the square for Jason O’Leary to punch it into the Spa net. On resumption, a poor kick-out saw Dr. Crokes win possession and Chris Doncel took off in direction of the Spa goal to fire another to the back of the net. Spa responded with a rasper to the roof of the Dr. Crokes net and seemed to be controlling the game for a period, maintaining pressure on the Dr. Crokes defence. Spa again broke through the defence for a second goal in the 16th minute. A reshuffle of the team saw Jack Lenihan move to mid-field and Cillian Regan into defence which proved fruitful as we regained control and both sides exchanged points before half-time. Half-time score: Dr. Crokes 2-07, Spa 2-05. The second half started in a similar fashion until a well worked passage of play saw Macdara De Bhilis blast a third goal in for Dr. Crokes. Spa made a burst for the Dr. Crokes goal but the shot was knocked over by Johnny O’Leary. Dr. Crokes introduced David Shaw who had a great impact, finding his team-mates in scoring positions. Spa scored a crucial goal after in the last 10 mins. which proved to be the inspiration for their victory as they maintained their two point lead until the final whistle. Full-time score: Dr. Crokes 3-10, Spa 3-12.

We were on the attack from the outset, Rory Mangan opening scoring after 8 minutes from a ball worked in after an interception by Shane Doolan. A minute later, Brian Looney found the net to put us into a 1-01 to 0-00 lead. Dingle found it difficult to penetrate the our defence but Mark Evans opened their account from a free following several wides by Dr. Crokes. Gavin O’Shea and Brian Looney (free) closed out the half’s scoring.  Half-time score: Dr. Crokes 1-04, Dingle 0-01. Cillian Fitzgerald opened scoring in the second half, travelling from his position in wing-back. Rory Mangan was on target shortly after with 2 points before being substituted for Chris Brady, who added another following introduction. A foul in our square resulted in a penalty for Dingle. Mark Evans made sure with a well taken goal to make the score 1-08 to 1-01. We responded immediately, with a point from Eoin Brosnan and another from Chris Brady (free). Tony Brosnan intercepted a loose pass in the Dingle defence and took a shot on goal from 21 yards out to put Dr. Crokes clear. Chris Brady closed out our account with another free before the end.
