SNR CO. LEAGUE - DIV. 5: St. Senans opened with two quick points inside 3 minutes but a Tony Brosnan point and a Laurence Byrnes goal had us level after 10 minutes on 1-01 to 0-04. We went 4 points up over the next 20 minutes but conceded a penalty which was scored by David Hogan in injury time. Half time score: Dr. Crokes 1-05, St. Senans 1-04. In the second half, we played clean open football and outscored the visitors 8 points to 4. Final score: Dr. Crokes 1-13, St. Senans 1-08. Scorers: Tony Brosnan, Gavin O’Shea 0-04 (each), Laurence Burns 1-00, Jason Lyne, Luke Quinn, Cian O’Neill, Bryan O’Shea 0-01 (each).

INTER. HURLING C'SHIP FINAL: In the curtain raiser to the senior final at Austin Stack Park, Kenmare were crowned Intermediate Hurling Champions when they had an easier than expected victory over us. Kenmare started better, with five points on the board before Tom Murphy opened our scoring in the 17th minute. Shortly after, Jack Lenihan made a great break through the Kenmare defence but his shot was just wide. The first half eventually finished with us 9 points to 3 in arrears. Michael McCarthy and Jack Lenihan pointed for us us on the restart and our challenge got a great boost in the 35th minute when a breaking ball from Patrick Landers was finished to the net by Tom Murphy to leave just two points between the sides. But it was to be our last score however as Kenmare took control and were it not for some fine goalkeeping by Jamie Lenihan, the margin of victory would have been even greater. This Dr. Crokes team have come a long way since the beginning of this year and found themselves in a County Final after a poor league campaign where we struggled to field teams in late Spring. The future is bright and this is something we can now build on. Thanks to the club and the supporters who backed us all on way to the final. There is one competition remaining, the South Kerry Championship, which we will compete in over the next month.
