Weekly Notes 24th of June

County League Div2 Rd3 Vs Abbeydorney

Round 3 of the Division 2 County League took us to Abbeydorney on 12th of June. A win would see us maintain our top of the table status.

From start to finish this was a strong performance, albeit against weak opposition. An early goal from a free set the tone, and the work rate of our half back line gave us the platform to build on. All forwards contributed on the scoreboard and we raced into a 4-10 to 1-2 lead by the break.

The performance levels were maintained for the second half with the substitutions driving us on and increasing the competition for places. A convincing victory at 4-20 to 1-8.

Stiffer tests await as we welcome Kenmare to Lewis road in round 4 on Thursday 20th June

County League Div2 Rd 4 Vs Kenmare

Round 4 of the Division 2 County League saw us welcome Kenmare to Lewis Rd on Thur 20th June.

Two first half Goals from Michael Lenihan and Shane Arthur settled the team after a lacklustre start. A strong finish to the half with three unanswered points from Jack Lenihan, Mike Lenihan and Kevin Landers gave us a 6 point lead at the break. Half time score 2-6 to 1-3.

Although happy with the lead the team played within themselves in the first half and came out very determined in the second half. Our defence started to dominate and linked well with the inside forward line where Mike Lenihan was an ever present threat; finishing with 4 goals to his name. A goal from Aaron Murphy at the midpoint of the half made sure of the result. All of the substitutions made big contributions when called on. Final score 6-13 to 3-6.

We remain top of the table and play Kilgarvan away on Thur 27th to decide who tops the group.
