CREDIT UNION CO. HURLING LEAGUE DIV. 1 Ballyduff 0-20 Dr Crokes 2-08 Dr Crokes Senior Hurlers continued their Credit Union County Senior Hurling League Division 1 campaign with a trip to Ballyduff on Sunday last. After a win against Kilgarvan in the last game, they were keen to build on the momentum. Despite a growing injury list the team acquitted themselves well and can be proud of their efforts.

Crokes started brightly and contested well all over the field. Declan Hickey scored a fantastic point from a sideline cut before Ballyduff responded with 4 unanswered points. Crokes responded with a free and a 65 from Mark Heffernan to leave the score 0-4 to 0-3 at the first half water break.

The fullback line of Anthony Keogh, Mike Milner and Patrick Crehan were very strong at this stage and prevented a few goals. Garry O Connor got on a  lot of ball and used it wisely.

Jack Linehan started to grow into the game and won a free which Mark Heffernan slotted over to level the scores. Ballyduff again put a run of scores together to open up a 5 point gap, some missed chances for Crokes during this period were costly. Just before half time David Carroll burst through the Ballyduff rearguard and put a rocket of a shot in the corner of the Ballyduff net to leave the half time score as Ballyduff 0-9 Crokes 1-4.

Crokes started the 2nd half brightly and Mark Heffernan narrowed the gap to the minimum before Ballyduff started to get on top of the 50/50 challenges and began to stretch the game. Crokes began to settle again and Declan Hickey scored a point from distance to leave the score at the water break Ballyduff 0-15 Crokes 1-6

Crokes continued battling hard although will rue a missed goal opportunity which the Ballyduff keeper managed to clear off the line. Some good work by Ciarán Kennedy by the end line led to a point from a 65. Aodán Burns and Jack Linehan combined well to win a free which Mark Heffernan converted before a brilliant block by Cathal White led to Jack Linehan scoring a goal to leave just 4 points between the sides with 5 minutes left. Crokes played with lots of spirit and endeavoured to close the gap further. A few long balls into the square

were cleared by the Ballyduff defence however and they tagged on 2 points in injury time to leave the final score Ballyduff 0-20 Dr. Crokes 2-8.

The Dr Crokes Junior hurlers got the first win of their 2021 Credit Union County Senior Hurling League Division 3  campaign against St Pats East Kerry on Wednesday night.

The game was played at the Fossa Community Field, with the added wind factor making the game a tricky affair.

Crokes led by 4 at half time. After conceding an early goal, we battled hard with a goal coming from the stick of Dara Tangney.

Dr Crokes were the better in the early stages of the second half, and reeled off a couple of scores but frees kept St Pats in the game to the death. Our defence stood strong in the closing stages to ensure we came away with our first points of the campaign, winning by 2 points in the end, 2-12 to 1-13
