COMMISSERATIONS to all the players we had on Kerry Panels in the last week Minor & U20 hurling and football.

CREDIT UNION CO. HURLING LEAGUE DIV. 1 Dr Crokes welcomed table toppers Causeway to Lewis Road in the final round of the Credit

Union County Senior Hurling League Division One on Friday last.

The game was played at a frantic pace in temperatures in the mid 20’s, a credit to both

sides.

Causeway started well, leading by 3 points to 1 after 10 minutes. But points from Tom Doyle, his second and Michael Lenihan ensured the game was level at the first half water break.

Causeway nudged in front by 2 after the water break. 3 pointed frees from Michael Lenihan ensured the gap remained at 2 points for the most of the first half, but two late points from Causeway pushed the 2020 County runners up into a 4 point lead at the interval, 10 points

to 6.

Dr Crokes goalkeeper Conor Bohane showed how important he is to this side, with two saves out of the top drawer in the first half to deny Causeway certain goalscoring opportunities.

The work rate shown by our lads was testament to their dedication, giving the extraordinary temperatures, captain Mike Milner led from the back with Rory Waters, Patrick Crehan andDeclan Hickey making vital interceptions to keep Causeway at bay.

Dr Crokes won the 3 rd quarter, 7 points to 4 with multiple players getting their names on the score sheet. Tom Doyle, Mike O Keeffe, both midfielders Cathal White and Jack Lenihan with1 and 2 points respectively and Michael Lenihan with one from pay and one from the dead ball. We trailed by one at this point with a real pep in our step.

It was great to welcome two intercounty players back into our side for this one, Tom Doyle returning from the football U20 setup and Michael from the hurling equivalent. Rob Ryan, David Carroll and Aodhan Burns all worked tirelessly in the half forward line, setting up multiple scores across the game.

Causeway pushed into a 3 point lead again at the start of the final quarter. Conor Bohane landed over a long range free before the score was cancelled out moments later.

We now focus our attention on the County Senior Hurling Championship which is a historic occasion for the club. We have been drawn to play Abbeydorney and Crotta O Neills in Group 3.
