C Team  recorded their first victoru with a win over Na Gaeil B

HURLING On Friday night last, April 1 st , it was round 4 of the Credit Union County Senior Hurling League Division 1, and a trip to sunny Ballyheigue for our hurlers.

It a game played in windy but dry conditions, the home side stretched into an early 1-5 to 0-2 lead after the quarter of an hour mark, with Crokes staying in touch with the strong

Ballyheigue side with scores from Michael Lenihan.

New recruit James Murphy had a stormer at corner back, helping keep the Ballyheigue

attack at bay throughout the first half. We had a mountain to climb at the interval, trailing

1-13 to 0-5 at the short whistle.

But the second half definitely belonged to Dr Crokes, with scores from Owen Hayes and

David Carroll, meaning we outscored the home side in the third quarter 5 points to 1. Some

goal chances from Colm O Cuiv, Michael Lenihan and Mike Milner forced saves from the

Ballyheigue goalkeeper, on another day we could have come home with the victory.

As goal chances came and went, Michael Lenihan again kept the scoreboard ticking over for

Crokes, again winning out the second half 8 points to 6.

But unfortunately we fell short at the end and went down 1-19 to 0-13. It is a break weekend for our senior hurlers this weekend, but our Juniors travel to St Pats East Kerry this coming Friday evening in the opening game of the South Kerry League

MINOR CO. LEAGUE We hosted Keel/Listry in our second county league game on Monday evening in Lewis Road with perfect playing conditions. After playing well in the first half, we were guilty of spurning many chances andwere unfortunate to only have a 4 point lead at the break. Halftime scoreline of 1-5 to 0-04, the goal courtesy of a fine finish from Shay O Meara. We started the second half slowly and within 2 minutes our lead was eliminated with with a quickfire goal and point.

Our lads responded brilliantly and for the remainder of the second half, we performed excellently. The game finished on a scoreline of 3-14 to 2-7. Second half goals came from Cathal Kelly and Maidhci Lynch.

A performance with great passion, workrate, discipline and plenty of fine football as well. All players stood out.

Scorers Alex Hennigan 0-7 Maidhci Lynch 1-1 Cathal Kelly 1-1 Shay O Meara 1-1 Dara O Sé 0-2 TJ O Sullivan 0-1 Neil O Carroll 0-1

U13 Division 1 County Football League

Spa 0:09 (0:06) Dr Crokes 2:05 (1:02)

ACADEMY We continued with great weather on Saturday. Its great to see the improvement in the players since our return. We continue every Saturday with hurling from 10 until 11 and football from 11 until 12 for boys and girls in the Killarney parish. We welcome new members so please bring a friend

Spring Clean and Gear Exchange: We are setting up a boot and gear exchange at the academy next Saturday from 10 until 12. If anyone has pre owned boots and playing gear that they have grown out of, that could do with a new home bring them along and exchange them with other academy members. It's good for the household spring clean, it helps out other members and it is good for the environment. We are looking for boots and playing gear.

Well done to our U13 boys who enjoyed a hard fought victory in the Division 1 county football league opener, away against neighbours Spa on Sunday evening last. Two goals, one in each half, were pivotal to the final outcome. Colm O’Sullivan struck in the first half and Andrew Sheahan in the second. A great all round performance and team display, in both defence and attack.

Thanks to our hosts for a good game.

Our u14 girls travelled to Kenmare this evening where they faced a seriously strong Inbhear Sceine Gaels team. Despite losing on a scoreline of 8-11 to 4-4 our girls never dropped their heads.

In fact we outscored them in the final quarter. Scorers were Keva McCarthy 3-2; Miren O'Connor 1-1; Sabra Hickey 0-1 & Annie Brosnan 0-1. Despite a big score against us our Goalie, Jessie and our full backline of Elizabeth, Vanessa & Katie all played very well and our Captain Aoife O'Donoghue led by example. Well done to all.

Well done to our U16 Girls who travelled to Listowel Emmetts this evening. They were on top throughout the game and won comfortably in the end.

Our backs worked fiercely throughout the game and made it very hard on the Listowel forwards. We also saw some excellent running and link play by our midfielders who worked tirelessly. Our forwards had some excellent scores and great support play was on show.

We would like to thank Listowel Emmetts for a very sporting game.

Well done to all players and management and also thank you to the travelling supporters.

Our Minor girls had a lively start to their county league campaign at home this evening against Firies.

In what was an overall very good team performance and a very entertaining game, our girls were delighted to come away with the win.

Well done to both teams.
