SHL Div. 1: Dr Crokes 0-15 Ballyduff 0-12 Dr. Crokes Senior Hurlers had a well deserved victory over Ballyduff to register their first points of the season in the County Senior Hurling League on Sunday last.

With home advantage, Dr Crokes started brightly and gave early indication that they were up for this game. A brace of points from frees by Michael Lenihan was followed by excellent points from play byDavid Carroll and midfielder Anthony Keogh.

Ballyduff responded and kept the score line ticking over to ensure a close game with both sides guilty of some bad wides. Michael Lenihan converted 2 more frees before half-time to leave the scores level at 0-06 each.

Ballyduff gained some momentum early in the second half to take a 3 point lead and it looked as if the game could be sliding away from Crokes. However, Dr Crokes, who have been learning that life is tough going in the top tier this season, dug deep and responded well to stay in the game.

Some excellent scores from both midfielders Jack Lenihan & Anthony Keogh rallied the troops and Crokes all of a sudden were back on level terms.

Our backs began to take control, our mid-fielders were working hard and covering great ground and our forwards gradually began to find gaps in the Ballyduff defence. A great goal chance was created and full forward Colm O'Cuiv was denied by a brilliant save by the Ballyduff keeper but Crokes kept up the pressure. Dr Crokes had a brilliant last quarter hitting 7 points from play, 3 from Michael Lenihan, 2 from Anthony Keogh, 1 each from Jack Lenihan and David Carroll to ensure Crokes stayed ahead for a memorable win.

This win was well deserved and a reward for all the hard work being done by Aidan O'Mahony, Strength & Conditioning Coach and Hurling Coach and Kerry Senior Hurler, Conor Bohane.

Team: Conor Bohane (Captain), Cathal White, Declan Hickey, Gary O'Connor, Nathaniel Doncel, Mike Milner, Patrick Creehan, Jack Lenihan (0-01), Anthony Keogh (0-03), Michael Lenihan (0-9; 0-6 frees), David Carroll (0-02), Aaron Murphy, Rob Ryan, Colm O'Cuiv and James Murphy.
