Club Notes Week 40 2022   10/10/2022

Senior Football Championship Dr. Crokes 0-11 Dingle 1-18. We had a disappointing end to our championship campaign under lights in Austin Stack Park on Saturday night. Dingle dominated from the get go forcing Shane Murphy to react quickly to deflect a Paul Geaney goal chance over the bar after just 30 seconds of play. Paul Geaney then pointed his second point from play, and the second point of the game after 8 minutes. David Shaw, Michael Potts and Mark O’Shea all stepped up to give us a one point lead after the first quarter of play. 5 Dingle points without replay meant that we trailed 0-05 to 0-08 at the half time break. The West Kerry men came out even stronger in the second half after Dylan Geaney slipped the ball passed Shane Murphy after what looked to be a Paul Geaney foul on Neil O’Shea in the first minute of the second half. Dingle were simply too good in the second half and controlled the game from here outscoring us 1-10 to 6 points in the final half of the game.

LGFA Munster Intermediate Quarter Final Dr. Crokes 1-11 Monagea 4-08. Our senior ladies bowed out of the LGFA Muster Intermediate Championship on Sunday last after being defeated by Limerick champions Monagea in Lewis Road. The girls played with everything they had in terrible condition for football but unfortunately as the saying goes ‘goals win games’.

East Kerry U15 Championship Dr. Crokes 3-08 Spa 0-11. Our U15 team have advanced to the semi-final of the East Kerry Championship following a real battle against neighbours Spa in difficult weather conditions in Spa on Sunday morning. The game was played with real championship intensity with some fine scores by both teams. The 3 goals that Crokes managed coupled with a fine second half defensive performance proved crucial on the day.
