SOUTH KERRY SENIOR HURLING C'SHIP SEMI-FINAL: Dr. Crokes 2-12, Kilgarvan 2-16. The hurling season came to an end on Thursday last when we travelled to Kilgarvan to meet the home side in the Semi-final of the South Kerry Senior Hurling Championship Semi-final. Kilgarvan got off to the better start, scoring from play and applying constant pressure to our defence. A goal for Kilgarvan before the break put them in a 7 point lead despite the best efforts of John Ivory, Mike Milner and Jack Lenihan, We pushed hard in the second half and got within two points of Kilgarvan in the dying minutes. Mike Milner struck the net following a free which was dropped into the square and Kevin Smith had success with an effort from the 13 not long after. Time was not on our side and Kilgarvan pushed into a four point lead before the final whistle. Well done to Kilgarvan who will face either Kenmare or Austin Stacks in the Final. Thursday also marked the end for Tim Hourigan and his selectors, Paul Downey & Sean Browne, who formally stepped down from management. During their time, they brought the senior hurling team to unprecedented heights, contesting two Intermediate Championship Finals & representing Kerry in Munster last year. We sincerely thank them for their time and efforts in keeping senior hurling alive in Dr. Crokes over the past number of years.

SENIOR CO. FOOTBALL LEAGUE - DIV. 1; ROUND 10: We had a comprehensive win over Templenoe in this vital County League game played in Lewis Road on Sunday last. As a result of this victory we qualified for the Final of the competition. We do need to win our remaining game to ensure that we get home venue for the final. We went on the offensive from the start and built up a big lead by the end of the first quarter. Our opponents rallied after that and a few points, followed by a goal before half time rallied their team. It still left them with a mountain to climb in the second half. We were still well on top in the second half and even though Templenoe fought right to the end and finished up with a respectable tally of 2-08 they were always chasing the game. Our mentors must have been very happy with our display. The defence was steady throughout even though they conceded two goals. Our midfield gave an ample supply of play to our attackers to shoot a match winning score. Ten different players got on the scoring sheet. Our top scorers on the day were Kieran O'Leary with 1-09 and Johnny Buckley with 1-07. Team: Shane Murphy, John Payne, Michael Moloney, Lake Quinn, David O'Leary, Gavin White, Alan O'Sullivan, Ambrose O'Donovan, P.J Lawlor, Bryan O'Shea, Johnny Buckley, Gavin O'Shea, Kieran O'Leary, Daithi Casey, Brian Looney. Subs: Jason Lyne, Jamie Doolan, Paul Clarke, Mike Miller.
