MUNSTER SENIOR CLUB FOOTBALL C'SHIP FINAL: Dr Crokes 3-15 The Nire 0-06. We got off to a dream start in this game played on a drizzly day in Mallow. We were on the offensive from the start and by the tenth minute we had scored 1-02 without reply. In the next ten minutes, we had ended the game as a contest, scoring two more goals and four points for a lead of 3-06 to nil after 22 minutes. In fairness to our opponents, they were trying very hard but sent over a few wides from good scoring positions. We added on a further three points to the Nire one to go in at the interval 3-09 to 0-01 in front. The second half was a much tougher contest as our opponents matched us score for score. In this thirty minutes we just outscored them 0-06 to 0-05. The damage had been done however in the first half and our display in the first twenty minutes was easily our best this year. Credit is due to our Waterford opponents for never throwing in the towel and for making us defend strongly in the second half. The positives we can take out of the game were that ten of the twenty one players who lined out on the day got on the score sheet. We must also give credit to our defence who marked tightly throughout the game to prevent The Nire from putting up a big score. Team and Scorers: Shane Murphy 0-01 (45), John Payne, Mike Moloney, Fionn Fitzgerald, Gavin White, Alan O'Sullivan, David O'Leary, Ambrose O'Donovan 0-01, Eoin Brosnan 0-01, Johnny Buckley 0-01, Gavin O'Shea, Brian Looney 0-02, Kieran O'Leary 0-04, Daithi Casey 3-01 (1-00 Penalty, 0-01 free), Colm Cooper 0-02 (0-01 free). Subs: Micheal Burns, Jordan Kiely 0-01, Tony Brosnan, Luke Quinn, Chris Brady 0-01, PJ Lawlor.

SCOR NA nÓG: Congratulations to our Scor na nÓg Quiz Team for their time and effort in coming in at a very credible 2nd place in the County Final after a heart stopping tie breaker coming up short by a mere two points. SENIOR CO. FOOTBALL LEAGUE - DIV. 1 FINAL: Dr Crokes 2-15 Austin Stacks 0-08. In this game, which neither side wanted to play on this particular date, we ran out easy winners in the end. We didn't want to play as we are playing the Munster Final next weekend. Stacks also had a very good reason for not wanting to fulfil this fixture as they hadn't played a game for six or seven weeks and had called a finish to their season when they exited the County Championship. They were hardly expected to keep on training for another several weeks for a fixture which both teams were prepared to play next year. Our opponents had a point in the first minute but then we sent over seven points without reply before the end of the first quarter. Austin Stacks were the better team in the second quarter, restricting us to just one point, while scoring two themselves. This gave us a half time lead of 0-08 to 0-03. We had a great quarter and outscored our opponents 1-05 to 0-01. This left us 1-13 to 0-04 in front at the end of this period. Both sides ran their benches in the last quarter and the game was devoid of any enthusiasm during this final period. This left us winners by 2-15 to 0-08. Our Management would have had some satisfaction with our display. A positive was that seven of our starting line out got on the scoresheet along with substitute Chris Brady. A negative was that we only got one point in the third quarter even though we had a lot of offensive play. In fairness to our opponents, they would have found it very hard to get into shape for this match after several weeks without a game. They never gave up but they ran out of steam in the second half. Team and Scorers: Shane Murphy, David O'Leary, Eoin Brosnan, Fionn Fitzgerald, Gavin White, Alan O'Sullivan, Luke Quinn, Ambrose O'Donovan, Johnny Buckley 0-01, Micheal Burns 1-01, Daithi Casey 0-01, Brian Looney 0-01, Jordan Kiely 1-02, Colm Cooper 0-04 (0-03 frees), Tony Brosnan 0-04. Subs: PJ Lawlor, Chris Brady 0-01, Mike Milner, Jamie Doolan, Cillian Fitzgerald, Paul Clarke.

MUNSTER CLUB C'SHIP SEMI-FINAL: Dr Crokes 1-12, Loughmore-Castleiney 0-09. In a game which never reached the heights expected we won in the end by six points as a result of a much improved second half display. It was nip and tuck in the first half with Colm Cooper's great goal in the 5th minute, separating the sides at the interval, Dr Crokes 1-05 Loughmore /Castleiney 0-05. In this first thirty minutes we found it very hard to penetrate a hard working tight defence. If our opponents had been more clinical in their finishing the score would have been much closer.Even though our opponents had the first score of the second half, a point, we produced a for far better display in this thirty minutes. We outscored the Tipperary lads by 0-07 to 0-04. This gave us victory by 1-12 to 0-09.Our Management would not be entirely happy with our display and improvement will be needed if we hope to win our seventh Munster Senior Title. A positive was that nine players got on the score sheet. In this workmans like display we had outstanding contributions by Gavin White and Colm Cooper. Team and Scorers: Shane Murphy, John Payne, Michael Moloney, Fionn Fitzgerald, David O'Leary, Alan O'Sullivan, Gavin White 0-01, Ambrose O'Donovan, Eoin Brosnan 0-01, Johnny Buckley 0-01, Gavin O'Shea 0-01, Brian Looney 0-01, Kieran O'Leary, Daithi Casey 0-02(frees), Colm Cooper 1-03 (0-01 free). O'DONOGHUE CUP SEMI-FINAL: Dr Crokes 2-13 Gneeveguilla 0-09. Played in Fitzgerald Stadium on Saturday November 5th. Despite our ten point victory this was not a one sided game. Our defenders were regularly called on to defend stoutly against our opponents. This however is a Gneeveguilla team intranisition and we were able to get through for vital scores at different times during the game. The teams exchanged points in the first five minutes but the rest of the first quarter belonged to us as we added on a goal and four points without reply for a seven point lead. The teams exchanged points on three occasions in the second quarter to leave us 1-8 to 0-4 in front at the interval. A goal by Jordan Kiely five minutes after half time, more or less ended the game as a contest. We were now ten points clear. In fairness to our opponents they never gave up. At the final whistle we were winners by 2-13 to 0-09. I'm sure our mentors would have been happy with our display and a big positive to take out of it was that four of our forwards, who did not start in the Munster game against Kilmurry IBrickane scored 1-09 between them. Team and Scorers: Alan Kelly; John Payne, Mike Moloney; Fionn Fitzgerald; Luke Quin, Alan O'Sullivan, Mike Milner; Ambrose O’Donovan; Daithi Casey 0-01, Michéal Burns 0-03, Colm Cooper 1-03 (0-03 frees), Bryan O'Shea 0-01, Jordan Kiely 1-04 (0-01 free), Kieran O’Leary; Tony Brosnan 0-01. MUNSTER CLUB FOOTBALL C'SHIP QTR FINAL: Dr Crokes 1-14, Kilmurry Brickane 0-08 | Quilty, Co. Clare | Sunday 30th October. We were behind on three occasions in the first quarter of this game. Our opponents led 0-03 to 0-02 at the end of the first fifteen minutes. We got well on top in the second quarter and sent over five points without reply. Kilmurry had a point on the stoke of half time. This left us with a half time lead of 0-07 to 0-04. Our opponents reduced our lead with a point in the 33rd minute. The defining moment came two minutes later when Colm Cooper expertly fielded a high ball just short of the end line and his well directed pass to Brian Looney resulted in a penalty for a kick block on the latter. We followed this with five unanswered points, three from Colm Cooper and one each from substitutes Micheál Burns and Tony Brosnan. Kilmurry reduced the deficit to nine points with a point in the 57th minute. Both sides exchanged points on two occasions in the remaining minutes to leave us victorious at the end of the game on a scoreline of 1-14 to 0-08. Our opponents hardly deserved to lose by nine points as they had some very good passages of play during the game. Our dominance in the second and third quarter powered the way for our good victory in the end. A satisfying result and our manager and selectors must have been pleased that nine of our team got on the scoring list and all playing either midfield or in the attack. Three of our scorers who contributed four points between them, Micheál Burns, Tony Brosnan and Jordan Kiely came off the bench. Team and Scorers: Shane Murphy; John Payne, Mike Moloney; Fionn Fitzgerald; Gavin White, Alan O'Sullivan, David O'Leary; Ambrose O’Donovan; Eoin Brosnan 0-01;  Daithi Casey 1-02 (1-00 penalty); Brian Looney 0-01;  Gavin O'Shea 0-01; Colm Cooper 0-03 (0-01 frees), Kieran O’Leary 0-02; Johnny Buckley. Subs: Micheál Burns 0-01, Tony Brosnan 0-02, Luke Quinn, Jordan Kiely 0-01, Mike Milner, PJ Lawlor.
