U14 Co. LEAGUE FINAL: Having served up a thrilling drawn match at first attempt of the U14 Div. 9 Co. League Final, both Dr. Crokes  and Spa contributed to an equally exciting replay in the Fitzgerald Stadium. Both teams took their opportunity to shine in the home of Kerry football to give a display of open, quick football that was worthy of their surroundings.Dr. Crokes commanded possession for much of the first half but missed a number of chances to add to their half time score of 1-6 and only lead by two points into the break, and these wides allowed Spa to remain in touch. Good solid performances by Eamonn Long, Harry Potts, Gerard Cronin (Capt) and Mark Cooper who worked tirelessly for the Crokes in and around the middle of the field and were given great support by Calum Neher, Seamus Gallagher and Lorcan Martin. In the second half, Spa started brighter and scored a goal and a point and looked like they would come back into the game, but this woke the Crokes lads up and mid-way through the second half a fine strike for goal by Jamie Muldoon allowed the Crokes to take control of the game again and this laid the foundation to open the gap in the score-line once more. Both teams made changes as the high tempo of the match in such a large pitch started to take its toll on players. The Crokes subs David Moriarty & Shane Looney seamlessly integrated into the game as the pace or standard never dipped for the hour. Oisin O’Connor gave a marvellous display in goal with some solid, tough defending by Jason Cahillane and Adam O’ Connell. The third goal by Shane Looney gave Dr. Crokes a cushion to see out the match and its ironic that we scored the exact same on the night score that we were accredited with in the first game; 3-10. The final score was Dr. Crokes 3-10 Spa 2-07. Team: Oisin O'Connor, Adam O'Connell, Oran O'Donoghue, Jason Cahillane, Gerard Cronin (Capt.), Caolan Ryan, Eamon Long,Mark Cooper, Jamie Muldoon, Harry Potts, Lorcan Martin, Seamus Gallagher, Calum Neher, Niall Daly, Sean McGann. SENIOR CO. LEAGUE - DIV. 1: A win over Kilcummin on a scoreline of 3-14 to 2-09 kept us well in touch at top end of Division 1. Kilcummin came out all guns blazing but stray shooting from early attacks gave little return on the scoreboard. We were more clinical and fast flowing movement kept their scores ticking over. The half-time score had Dr Crokes 1-09 to 0-03 ahead, helped by a goal from Alan O’Sullivan. The second half was a much tighter affair, with both teams scoring 2-5 apiece. Kilcummin were awarded a penalty. Conor O’Loughlin pulled off a terrific save from Jamie O’Sullivan’s shot from the spot but Jamie was quickest to react and banged the ball to the net. Ian Devane followed this up with another goal for Kilcummin. We were also awarded a penalty and Mícheál Burns found the net. Tony Brosnan was on the end of a great passing movement and he too picked off a goal for us.

SENIOR CO. LEAGUE - DIV. 5: We maintained their unbeaten run in Division 5 with a victory over Laune Rangers in Lewis Road, Killarney on Sunday, 18th May. We got off to the better start with Keith O’Leary pointing within the first minute. Ruairi Mangan extended the lead not a minute later with a well taken goal. He followed it up with another goal shortly after and Keith O’Leary added a third. We kept the scoreboard ticking over with points before the end of the half, Conor O’Farrell struck a fourth goal. Half-time score: Dr. Crokes 4-09, Laune Rangers 0-02. Some sterling defending in the second half prevented Laune Rangers from getting stride. The introduction of Tony Brosnan brought extra flair to the forwards, who scored three points and delivered a great pass to Brendan Falvey for the fifth goal. Full-time score: Dr. Crokes 5-19 Laune Rangers 0-05.

U12 FOOTBALL SUMMARY: Starting the first week of February, the boys have participated in some 20 training sessions, six matches and an Easter camp. This has been a huge effort by all, players, parents & coaches alike. We are aware that this time of year people have commitments to various different sports and the effort is very much appreciated. A big thank you to the parents who were good enough to carry some of the boys to and from games.
All the boys hard work is definitely paying off with some great performances from both sides against strong oppositions in Division 1A & 1B. Both teams have played against An Ghaeltacht, Laune Rangers, Legion, Austin Stacks and the John Mitchels. With the results achieved both advance comfortably to the 2nd round of the Co. League where the titles will be decided. In all, over 32 boys have contributed to the games with coaches doing their best to ensure everyone has gotten ample playing time and hopefully had some fun along the way while improving their skills. The coming months will see plenty more opportunity in the 2nd round of the Co. League and in East Kerry competitions to work hard and hopefully have fun while we are doing it.

SENIOR HURLING: We hosted Kilmoyley at home on Wednesday last. This was a game we could have won. We got off to a great start, pushing to a 4 point lead but this was short-lived when Kilmoyley won several score-able frees. Patrick Landers was on the edge of the square to score an important goal to go in only 2 points down at half-time. We pressed hard in the second half, Jack Lenihan scoring a goal from a 21 yard free rebound. Some strong defending from Kevin Landers, Seanie Morris & Rory Waters made it difficult for Kilmoyley but two further goals in the half ensured their victory. Dr. Crokes 2-10, Causeway 3-16. Team: Jamie Lenihan, Shane Kavanagh, Kevin Landers, John Ivory, Rory Waters, Seanie Morris, Padraig Fitzpatrick, Seanie Burchill, Brendan McMahon, Michael O'Keeffe, Mike McCarthy, Jack Lenihan, Cian O'Brien, Brendan O'Donovan, Patrick Landers.

SENIOR LADIES: The Dr. Crokes Senior ladies played a hard fought match against Kilcummin and where lucky to come away with a win on a score line of 4-12 to 3-09. The girls where 6 points down at half-time but came out fighting, goals from Rheanne O'Shea and Megan Brosnan quickly brining the girls in to the game. Amanda Brosnan had a personal tally of 8 points on the day! The defense played outstanding making it hard for the Kilcummin girls to break through. Everyone contributed to this win. We now play Currow next week in the last game.

U16 GIRLS: The U16 girls started their league campaign with a win over near neighbours Spa last Friday night. This was a very close fought game with both teams exchanging scores. But the girls gave it there all and came away the winners on a scoreline of 4-06 to 3-07.

U14 GIRLS: The Under 14 girls also had a win last week when Abbeydorney came to Lewis Road. The girls played very well as a team and won on a scoreline of 8-09 to 3-08.

U12 GIRLS: The Under 12 girls played their last game in the Phase 1 against Glenflesk last Thursday. This was a game of two halves with the Crokes girls down by 4 goals at half time. But they fought back hard in the second half with goals from Ava Sheehan and Sarra Neher and some well placed points from Lyselle O'Shea, Niamh Stack and Theresa O'Sullivan brought us back into the game. But in the end, it wasn't to be. Final score: Glenflesk 4-09, Dr. Crokes 4-02.

But they retaliated and went in leading at half time; Dr. Crokes 1-03, Causeway 2-05. Causeway pushed home in the second half but not before Brendan O'Donovan seized a high ball on the edge of the square and struck home with 10 mins. remaining. It has been a great league campain so far from Tommy Brosnan's charges and we wish them all the best in there last two games.

Holly Power was outstanding in the full back position helped by Megan Graham and Emma Kelly. Well done to birthday girl Megan Lenihan in goals who made some lovely saves.
