MINOR C'SHIP FINAL: The ball was thrown in with the first use of the wind coming for us. The story of the first half is easily told with all the action crammed into the final three minutes of play. Both sides swapped early points, Jordan Kiely opening our account. The next score did not come for another 18 minutes when Micheál Burns put us ahead from a free. In between, with both sides using the possession game, there were numerous turnovers, we missed a few scoreable frees and Billy Courtney's shot required a great save from the Dingle goalkeeper in the 25th minute. Suddenly the game came to life when Dingle finished to the net after an initial shot was well saved by Johnny O’Leary. On resumption, play switched to the opposite end where Micheál Burns converted a penalty after a foul on Paul Clarke. At the break it was 1-02 apiece. Dingle now had use of the wind in the second half. Chris Doncel scored one of the finest points of the day which was followed shortly after by a second penalty when Jordan Kiely set up David Naughton who was pulled to the ground in the 15th minute. Micheál Burns struck the post with his shot but Jordan Kiely was first to react, booting the rebound to the net put Dr. Crokes ahead 2-03 to 1-04. But this proved to be our last score as Dingle took control of the middle third of the field. Geaney and Flaherty pointed to level the game for Dingle with 7 minutes remaining and after pushed on to give Dingle victory. Full-time score: Dr. Crokes 2-03, Dingle 1-09.

SENIOR CLUB FINAL: Two goals within a couple of minutes of each other in the opening ten minutes of play ensured that there was going to be no repeat of the senior football championship result between Dr Crokes and Legion. Playing against the wind in the opening half, both goals were invaluable to us. We started with Johnny Buckley at full forward and after Kieran O’Leary and James O’Donoghue swapped points, O’Leary rounded his man and shot to the net in the 8th minute. Two minutes later O’Leary provided the opportunity, this time setting up Ambrose O’Donovan for a second goal. Both sides swapped points shortly after but Legion had the better of the second quarter, pointing from a brace of frees. Conor O’Loughlin pulled off a great save to leave Dr Crokes leading by two at the break, 2-02 to 0-06. Pointed frees were the order of the day in the second half. Kieran O’Leary (0-02) and Johnny Buckley had pointed frees for Crokes with James O’Donoghue replying for Legion. Gavin O'Shea was pulled down in the square and the resulting penalty was converted by Johnny Buckley. Thereafter, Legion did get a goal from another penalty when James O’Donoghue calmly slotted home following a foul on David O’Sulivan and Ambrose O’Donovan closed the scoring with a goal in the 58th minute from a Bryan O’Shea delivery. Full-time score: Dr. Crokes 4-13, Legion 1-09.

RESULTS: EK Mnr C'ship S/F: Dr. Crokes 4-13, Firies 1-13. Snr Ladies Co. Lge. Final: Dr. Crokes 3-12, John Mitchell's 2-03. Mnr. Co. Hurling C'ship: South Kerry 1-09, Lixnaw 3-18.

MNR CO. HURLING C'SHIP: This final took place in Abbeydorney on Saturday last where a strong South Kerry outfit met a fancied Lixnaw side who defeated the favourites, Causeway, in the opening round. This was truly a game of two halves, the second being South Kerry's undoing with a strong wind to Lixnaw's backs. South Kerry won the toss and decided to play with the wind. Lixnaw opened their account first but a free from Patrick O'Shea levelled matters. Mid-way through the half, South Kerry took control, points coming fast from the forwards. Lixnaw made a break for goal which was well-saved by Patrick McCarthy. Down the opposite end, Chris Doncel struck for goal but was denied by the keeper only for Aaron Murphy to follow in and kick to the back of the net. John Mark Foley cleaned up Lixnaw's puck-outs in centre-back for the remainder of the first half with great fielding. At half time, it was the South Kerry men who were leading the way, 1-08 to 0-06. However, early second half goals from Lixnaw, gave them a lead they were never to lose with a strong wind to their backs. They proceeded to dominate the game with a succession of points, both from frees and play, despite the best efforts of the South Kerry side. Micheál Burns made defence splitting solo runs but was unlucky not to come off with a goal. Best for South Kerry were John Mark Foley at centre back, ably assisted by Patrick O’Shea, Aaron Murphy and Shane Lyne. Full-time: South Kerry 1-09, Lixnaw 3-18. This is undoubtedly a team to watch out for in the future. The oppositions wealth of hurling during the year helped them secure victory on the day. If this South Kerry team get more training and contest more competitive games in the year, they will progress to a standard of hurling which South Kerry has never seen before. Team: Patrick McCarthy (Kilgarvan), Eoghan Browne (Dr. Crokes), David Crowley (Kenmare), Shane O’Sullivan (Kilgarvan), Shane Lyne (Dr. Crokes), John Mark Foley (Kilgarvan), Daniel O’Brien (Dr. Crokes), Jack Lenihan (Dr. Crokes), Brian O’Sullivan (Kenmare) (0-01), Michael Burns (Dr. Crokes), Patrick O’Shea (Kilgarvan) (0-07f), Chris Doncel (Dr. Crokes) Capt., Aaron Murphy (Dr. Crokes) (1-00), Fionán O’Sullivan (Kenmare) (0-01).Ciaran Kennedy (Dr. Crokes), Sub.: Flor O’Sullivan (Kilgarvan).
