After both sides swapped points, Spa had a shot on goal well saved by Johnny O'Leary at point blank range. Spa finished the half better but some superb shot-stopping again by Johnny O'Leary kept the deficit to a minimum. Half-time score: Dr. Crokes 0-03, Spa 0-07. The introduction of substitutions on both sides brought extra pace in the second half.
