Dr Crokes LGFA is an integral part of the Club’s overall sports initiatives, and have had notable achievements over the years.
Dr Crokes are proud to have been one of the first clubs in the country to operate under the “One Club” model, which aims to integrate the main Gaelic games associations – the GAA and Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) within a single club structure. A “One Club” approach fosters a stronger sense of community and shared identity among all members, regardless of the specific Gaelic game they play.
The Club boasts girls’ and ladies’ teams across all age groups, ranging from the U6 Academy through to our Senior Ladies.
Dr Crokes Senior Ladies have enjoyed notable success in recent years in both the Junior and Intermediate Championships in Kerry. These most recent achievements are a testament to the club’s depth of talent and the improvement in coaching and development programmes. After years of solid performances at underage levels, the club secured the Kerry Junior Championship title in 2021 under the leadership the late Caoimhin O’Donoghue (RIP), and went on to secure the Kerry Intermediate Championship the following year, 2022, when they were coached by Colm Horgan. This victory was a significant achievement, marking the club’s return to the top level of Kerry Ladies Football and setting the stage for further success in higher-tier competitions.
Amanda Brosnan and Kayleigh Cronin are two of the most significant players in the history of Dr Crokes Ladies Football, and their contributions to the club, particularly in the recent Junior and Intermediate Championship successes, have been pivotal.
The club has made significant strides in developing young talent. Our underage systems have improved, and there is now a solid pipeline of players coming through to the senior level. This development has helped ensure that Dr Crokes has a competitive edge, with a mix of experience and youthful energy.
