O’Donoghue Cup Dr. Crokes 0:17 Gneeveguilla 0:10. Just six days after winning the County Championship, our senior men’s team produced another great win over Gneeveguilla under lights on Saturday last. With scores from Brendan Falvey, Daithi Casey and Tom Doyle we led 5 points to 2 points after the first quarter. Gneeveguilla fought hard and kept the boys under pressure for the remainder of the half. Further points from Man of the Match Alex Hennigan, who finished the game with 6 points, Tom Doyle, and Sean Fitzgerald gave up a 3-point lead at the break, 10 points to 7 points. Gneeveguilla came out stronger in the second half, scoring the first 2 points of the half. Mikey Casey was unlucky not to hit the back of the net in the 7th minute with a good effort on goal. With the introduction of Evan Looney, David Shaw and Kieran O’Leary we ran out deserving winners in the end and secured our semi final place on the weekend of 16/17 November. Our Senior men are out in the Munster Club Championship on Sunday at home at 1.15pm. Please support.

Club Notes Week 41 2024

Senior County Championship Dr. Crokes 0:14 St. Brendan’s 0:09. Our senior footballers secured their place in their second county final of the year after a good win over St. Brendan’s on Saturday. Brian Looney opened up the scoring in the first minute with a point after a fantastic run from Evan Looney. We controlled much of the first quarter, leading 5 points to 1 after 15 minutes. Our opposition kept our defiance busy for the afternoon, clocking up some good scores from play. We led 0:08 to 0:05 at the break. The second half was much like the first, we started well, scoring the first point of the half from the throw in. Kieran O’Leary was introduced in the 7th minute of the half and was unlucky not to raise the green flag when an effort on goal was brilliantly saved by the St. Brendan’s goalie. Working hard both in defense and up front, we ran out deserving winners. We now face Dingle in the Final on October 27th at 2:30pm in Austin Stack Park.

Club Notes Week 40 2024

County Championship Dr. Crokes 1:17 Rathmore 2:09. Our Senior Footballers secured their place in the County Championship Semi Final with a good win over Rathmore in the Fitzgerald Stadium on Sunday last. Played in poor conditions, we started the better, with Gavin O’Shea opening the scoring in the first minute. Two minutes later Tony Brosnan was unlucky not to raise the green flag after a super effort on goal. It was half way through the half when Rathmore got their first of two goals, after a fantastic save from Shane Murphy. In typical Crokes fashion, this only pushed us on further and we scored three consecutive points from the boots of Tony Brosnan, Micheal Burns and David Shaw. In the 25th minute David Shaw was taken down inside the small square and Tony Brosnan converted from the penalty spot, giving us a 1:08 to 1:02 lead at the break. We took control early on in the first half, with score from Cian McMahon, Tony Brosnan and Evan Looney. Shane Murphy, was once again forced to make a number of brilliant saves, to keep us well ahead for much of the half. Rathmore continued to put it up to us, battling hard and eventually raising a second green flag in injury time. We now take on St. Brendan’s on Saturday at 5pm in Austin Stack Park.
 
Academy Our Academy will finish up on Saturday 12th October, with training from 10:30 – 11:30.

Senior County Championship Dr. Crokes 1:16 Mid Kerry 1:08. After a hard-fought battle with Mid Kerry in Austin Stack Park we secured our place in the County Championship Quarter Final. We controlled the game from the beginning with Tony Brosnan picking up the first point of the game after just 1 minute of play, easing us in to 5 points to 1 point lead after 10 minutes. It was in the 20th minute when Cian McMahon found Tony Brosnan who finished the ball fantastically in the back of the Mid Kerry goal. Mid Kerry responded well with a goal of their own just 2 minutes later. We went in leading 1:10 to 1:04 at the break. The second half was much like the first, with great scores from Tony Brosnan, David Shaw, Micheal Burns and Daithi Casey. We finished off the game comfortably. Next up is the Quarter Final on the weekend of October 5th.

Club Notes Week 37 2024

Senior County Championship Dr. Crokes 1:14 Kenmare 2:07. Fresh from winning the Club Championship, we got our we got our County Championship campaign underway with a good win away to Kenmare on Saturday. We opened the scoring in the first minute through a Tony Brosnan free, having worked hard to turn over the ball, having lost the throw in. Kenmare replied a minute later, with their first score of the game, a goal from Seanie O’Shea. Shane Murphy had made a brilliant save to firstly deny the goal but it was the rebound that found the back of the net. Keeping our opposition scoreless for the next 18 minutes we clocked up some fine points, leaving the scoreboard reading 4 points to 1 goal after 19 minutes. It was in the 27th minutes of the game that Tony Brosnan was brought down inside the small square and converted from the penalty spot to give us a 1:05 to 1:03 lead at the break. The second half was as entertaining as the first with both teams trading points and Shane Murphy pulling off some fantastic saves to keep us leading for the entire half. We now face Mid Kerry on Sunday 22nd in ASP at 4pm.

Club Notes Week 35 2024

Senior Club Final Dr. Crokes 1:15 Dingle 0:11. After a fantastic team performance all over the field we secured our 11th Senior Club Championship title over Dingle on Sunday last. Having conceded the first point of the game, we responded in typical Crokes fashion, replying with 1:04 over the next 10 minutes, and keeping our opposition scoreless. That said goal came from the boot of birthday boy Cian McMahon after a fantastic long ball in from Tom Doyle. We were unlucky not to add another goal to our tally in the 19th minute when Gavin O’Shea’s goal effort was narrowly cleared off the goal line. 10 minutes later, and in similar fashion, Fionn Fitzgerald cleared the Crokes goal line to deny Dingle a goal of their own. We went in leading 1:07 to 0:05 at the break. The second half played out much like the first with impressive scoring and solid defending we ran out deserving winners. Tony Brosnan received the Man of the Match award having kicked 9 points. Next up is the County Championship in two weeks time.

Club Notes Week 33 2024

Senior Club Championship Dr. Crokes 1:15 Rathmore 2:10. After a very entertaining game in front of a large crowd in Rathbeg, we secured our place in the Senior Club Final.  We took control of the game from early on, keeping our opponents scoreless for the first 7 minutes of the game. Our opening score came from the boot of Cian McMahon. Mark O’Shea put on a fantastic display of fielding from the middle of the pitch from start to finish. In the 15th minute, Mark caught a brilliant ball from the Rathmore kick out, he played it in to David Shaw who worked extremely well to pass the ball off to Tony Brosnan who finished the ball in to the back of the net. We led comfortably at the break 1:09 to 0:03. We continued to control the beginning of second half, with a Charlie Keating goal opportunity narrowly missing the target. We held a comfortable lead, until the remaining 5 minutes of the game. Rathmore hit 1:02 in the space of a minute and a half to narrow the gap to just 3 points. With 6 minutes of injury time played we secured the win, and a place in our second final of the year. It was great to see the reintroduction of a number of players to the panel. We now face Dingle in the Final on September 1st in Austin Stack Park.
