Club Notes Week 42   22/10/2018

Weekly Notes 22nd of October

Senior Hurling.

Our season came to an end in Fitzgerald Stadium on Saturday when we were beaten by Kilgarvan in the South Kerry Championship Final.
Final score was Kilgarvan 2-18 Dr Crokes 0-12.
This game was arranged at the end of a long period of uncertainty surrounding the arrangements for the championship resulting in an understandable loss of interest on the part of our players and of other clubs. The South Kerry Hurling Board must do better.
Although our lads were handicapped by the absence of several regulars and the lack of games during the last couple of months they put up a brave show of defiance. Kilgarvan had already, as Kerry Intermediate Champions, qualified to represent Kerry in the Munster Junior Club Championship and clearly had put in a lot of work and were the better team on the day. We wish them well on their travels as they go forward to take on the Limerick Champions in two weeks time.
Our best players on the day were veteran goalkeeper Timmy Hourigan, Shane Kavanagh, Colm O Cuiv, Jack Lenihan, Aaron Murphy and Rob Ryan.

Deepest Sympathies
The Club sends it's sympathy to our players Jack and Mike Lenihan on the death of their grandmother Joan Griffin, and to another player, Gary O'Connor on the recent death of his grandfather John Coffey.
