Weekly Notes 28th of May

County League Division 1 Round 4
Dr Crokes 4-18 Templenoe 1-15
Played in Lewis Road on Friday 24th of May

In a game in which both sides were missing a number of players we ran out winners in the end by 4-18 to 1-15. The game was won for us and lost by Templenoe in the first half. In the 30 minutes our ability to get through for goals was the difference between the teams. We scored four goals to our opponents one in this period to go in at half time leading by 4-08 to 1-08. Even though our opponents matched us in point scoring in this half their concession of goals told against them in the end.
Templenoe had the first two points of the game but we had a purple patch from the 10th to 15th minute scoring 2-3 without reply. Our opponents did score a goal from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute but prior to that we had scored our third and fourth goal in the 22nd and 23rd minute. This gave us an interval lead of 4-08 to 1-08.
The teams exchanged points on a few occasions but we scored three points without reply during two periods of this second half. Templenoe never gave up but the half time lead against them was a bridge too far. Both teams played good football throughout and both sides kicked good scores.
Team and Scorers: Shane Murphy, Brian Fitzgerald, Jason Lyne, Mark Fitzgerald, Chris Doncel 0-1, Lorcan Mc Monagle, Brian Looney 0-3, Daithi Casey, Billy Courtney 2-0, Gavin O'Shea, Chris Brady 0-3, Jack Griffin, Jordan Kiely 1-8 (0-7 frees), Mark O'Shea 0-1, Mike Casey 1-0.
Subs: Paul Clarke 0-1, Bryan O'Shea 0-1, Kieran Ward, David O'Leary, James Kelly.

Dr Crokes Senior Hurlers
Dr Crokes Senior Hurlers played Banteer in Banteer on Tuesday Night 21-May in Rd 5 of the Duhallow JAHL.
This was our final game before the kick off of our Div 2 county league campaign next week. After taking an early lead, we were under pressure from the start. Banteer presented a constant goal threat and scored 2 goals in the first half, each one killing any momentum we had gained. The score at half time was 2-11 to 0-9.
We upped our work rate for the first 10 mins of the second half, but our fitness levels are not where we would like and Banteer ran out convincing winners on a score of 5-18 to 0-12.
Overall a disappointing performance but a timely eye opener for our county league campaign which starts next Wednesday night the 29th with a home game to Tralee Parnells
Team and Scorers: Eoin Hayes, Mike O’Keefe, Kevin Landers, Michael Eoin Buckley,
