Weekly Notes 15th of July

County League Division 1 - Round 8

Dr Crokes 2-19 St Marys 0-10

Played in Lewis Road on Friday 12th of July

You would never have anticipated our convincing win at the end of the first quarter. In this first fifteen minutes the South Kerry boys matched us score for score and led 0-4 to 0-3. The second quarter, however, belonged to us. We sent over 1-7 without reply, our goal in the 25th minute being a killer blow for the opposition. St Marys had a point in injury time. This left us leading at half time by 1-10 to 0-5.

The first five minutes of the third quarter were again very competitive, the home team scoring a goal and two points to the visitors two points. We again hit a parker patch in the next ten minutes, sending over four points without reply for a 2-16 to 0-7 lead. St Marys however never gave up and matched our last quarter score of three points.

As a result of this game we should be safe from relegation and on a more positive note, a win in our last three games could give us a final birth but a lot would depend on other results for us to achieve that.

St Marys know themselves that they have not got the results they normally get in the County League. They have however been missing key players and on their return will get back to winning ways.
