Club Notes Week 37 2022   19/09/2022

Senior County Championship Dr. Crokes 2-19 Shannon Rangers 1-12. We continued our successful streak in the County Championship with a 10 point win over Shannon Rangers at home on Sunday. We started off the better with points from Cian McMahon and Brian Looney. The visitors retaliated with points from Jack Kennelly and Robert Stack leaving the scores level after 7 minutes of play. Tony Brosnan and Jack Kennelly swapped frees on either end before Cian McMahon got our first goal of the game. Both teams exchanged scored for the remaining of the first half before Evan Looney was black carded just before the break. The numerical disadvantage didn’t affect us at the start of the second half as Tom Doyle and Mark O’Shea kicked points before Shannon Rangers got their first score of the half through a Michael Heaphy point from play. The visitors reduced the margin in the 10th minute when Andrew Doherty slipped the ball passed Shane Murphy to leave the score line 1-12 to 1-07.  One minute later Tony Brosnan replied with a bullet of a goal down the other end of the field. Overall our performance was consistently impressive from start to finish and we finished deserving winners in the end. We now play Kenmare away next weekend in the last round of the group.

Molyneaux Cup Final Dr. Crokes 2-10 Glenflesk 1-12. Our junior team got off to a flying start in the Molyneaux Cup Final in Spa on Friday evening. After 9 minutes of play we were leading 1-03 to no score. The three points coming from Paul Clarke followed by a Sean Magann goal after a wonderful cross field foot pass from Paul Clarke. Glenflesk fought hard scoring the next 3 points from play before Chris Doncel scored a crucial goal, our second goal of the night. Glenflesk refused to lie down putting over 3 points from play and one free. Our opponents were reduced to 14 men after 30 minutes of play after receiving a black card for an off the ball incident. We took advantage of our extra man with Paul Clarke scoring our third goal of the night just before half time. Glenflesk reduced the gap after just 5 minutes of the 2nd half having converted a penalty. Both teams swapped points throughout most of the second half. We finished deserving winners having led for the whole game.
