Senior County Championship Dr. Crokes 1:14 Kenmare 2:07. Fresh from winning the Club Championship, we got our we got our County Championship campaign underway with a good win away to Kenmare on Saturday. We opened the scoring in the first minute through a Tony Brosnan free, having worked hard to turn over the ball, having lost the throw in. Kenmare replied a minute later, with their first score of the game, a goal from Seanie O'Shea. Shane Murphy had made a brilliant save to firstly deny the goal but it was the rebound that found the back of the net. Keeping our opposition scoreless for the next 18 minutes we clocked up some fine points, leaving the scoreboard reading 4 points to 1 goal after 19 minutes. It was in the 27th minutes of the game that Tony Brosnan was brought down inside the small square and converted from the penalty spot to give us a 1:05 to 1:03 lead at the break. The second half was as entertaining as the first with both teams trading points and Shane Murphy pulling off some fantastic saves to keep us leading for the entire half. We now face Mid Kerry on Sunday 22nd in ASP at 4pm.
